School Starts for the 2012 school year at 8.55am Thursday 2 February.

Teacher Only Days are Tuesday 31 January and Wednesday 1 February.

Stationery Lists can be found on he right of this page. Students are expected to arrive at school on the 2nd with their correct stationery.

End of Year

Another reminder to mark in your diary Monday 12 December for our end of year picnic to celebrate our Year 8’s leaving Upper Moutere School and moving on to their respective colleges.

Note that the last day for school is Tuesday 13 December. School finishes at 12 noon. School starts for 2012 Thursday 2 February.

Rachael Whalley has been given leave for the first two terms of next year as she has been awarded a Primary Science Teacher Fellowship to develop leadership in the teaching of science. Rachael will return in Term Three and use her newly honed skills to further develop the teaching of science with our team at Upper Moutere. A fantastic opportunity for Rachael and our school. We are in the process of appointing a teacher to fill the vacancy this has created.

Classes for 2012

The make up of classes for next year will be:

New Entrant/ Year 1

Year 1/ Year 2

Year 3/Year 4

Year 4/ Year 5

Year 5/ Year 6

Year 7/ Year 8

We are yet to determine which students will be in each classroom. This will be decided by week 7 when you will be notified.

Room 6 Camp

Room 6 are excited with Monday looming and Wellington beckoning. By this time next week they will have returned and experienced cruises on the Interislander, a night at the zoo, breakfast at a café, Somes Island, making a Live TV news broadcast, Weta Workshops, an evening of professional theatre, Te Papa, Parliament, the cable car, commuter trains, waterslide and some shopping! Friday night should be quiet in their houses.

Athletics Day

What a shame the weather beat us on Saturday and we had to cancel the Annual Moutere Hills Athletics Sports Day. However yesterday afternoon we were able to run the major interschool individual and team events to determine the trophy winners for 2011.

We began the programme with a commemoration service recognising why the event evolved. Wreaths from each school were laid as well as one from the Moutere Hills RSA.

Playground Safety

Please refrain from placing bench seats under the playground equipment for children to climb on to reach equipment. This is a safety hazard.

Calendars

Classes have been working on their calendars over the past few weeks. These always prove popular as Christmas Gifts (yes sorry I did mention that word!) We have completed these earlier as next term is considerably shorter than usual and hopefully they will be back for international post dates.

Calendars are $12, Cards $12.50,and Diaries (new this year) are $16. The final Date for ordering and payment is 30 September.
