1. We still have over 20 tops not returned from last year – that is over $ 500

2. Students borrowed more than one shirt over time because they forgot to bring/ wear their initial one

3. And this is the most disappointing, an unacceptable number of shirts were returned obviously unwashed or with obvious grease stains down the front.

This lack of respect for these SUMS and School funded shirts is not good enough. In future any unclean/ damaged or unreturned tops will be charged to the borrower.

Last week Jos and Margaret Pattison worked with groups of students teaching swimming. The purpose of this was to up skill our teachers in the teaching of swimming. Jos and Margaret are well known Nelsonians due their long career in Swimming Instruction.

Swimming Sports

Next Tuesday afternoon (1.00pm) we will host the Moutere Hills Swimming Sports for Years 4-8. The Juniors will travel to Mahana on Friday for their annual event. We hope you can come along.

Triathlon

We ran, cycled and swam this afternoon…great to see so many family supporters.

Just a reminder that at Upper Moutere children are required to wear brimmed hats (NOT CAPS…I see a few have come back after the holidays) during Term one and four.

Water Bottles

All children need a water bottle AT school EACH day. Last year we had a steady stream of students coming to the staffroom to get a glass of water. We encourage WATER as the drink of choice. We do plan to install a new drinking fountain during the year.

The teachers have been back over the holidays preparing for the new year of learning. We spent Thursday and Friday working together through a variety of Professional Development opportunities, so we are “switched on” and ready to empower Confidence,  to be Active, Creative, Literate, Numerate, Thinkers as we all STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE in 2010.

We have an awesome school, with awesome students, awesome staff
