Curriculum Development
This year the teachers are working intensively on redeveloping our school curriculum to align it with our community needs, our students needs and the requirements of the New Zealand Curriculum. We are presently reviewing our School Vision and considering how we may refine it to become a more purposeful foundation for our class and school programmes.
We are going to join with all the teachers in the Moutere Hills Cluster, plus Lower Moutere and Ngatimoti, for a Teacher Only Day on Friday 19 June. This day has been provided by the Minister of Education to assist schools with the implementation of the revised New Zealand Curriculum. The purpose of the day together is to develop a greater understanding of present effective teaching and learning practise as well as develop learning communities across the schools so teachers of similar levels can share knowledge and skills and provide support for each other. Sharon Marsh, an Advisor from The University of Canterbury Education+, will facilitate the day. Sharon has worked with Paul and me several times recently helping us in developing our Upper Moutere Curriculum.
So please mark now on your calendar that SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED ON FRIDAY 19 JUNE for a TEACHER ONLY DAY.
