Last week Sam Erni, Holly Druce, Killian Cools and Taj Wilson-Keen appeared around the corner of Turama, where I was working, with sheepish smiles on their faces and a 24” Flatscreen TV in their arms!  They had spent that day at MOTEC representing us in the Year5/6 ITM Challenge and had WON! They were so rapt and who could blame them, when you get to win a TV? Our Year 7/8 team of Bryden Cook, Toby Crawford, Stanley Griffith, and Erik McBride, had the bar raised the following day as they took on their challenges and again they did us proud with second place, missing the top spot by just one point. What great problems solvers we have at Upper Moutere.

Also last week, Claudia van de Ven and Emma Parker represented us at the annual interschool Speech Competition. Both delivered a well-constructed speech with confidence and clarity, they really impressed us, we are really proud.

This week has seen our Year 5- 8 students participate in the Winter Tournament with all the Motueka Schools. I have had great feedback on our student’s attitude and play. BRILLIANT!

Several classes took the opportunity to travel to Lower Moutere School to view around a million dollars of contemporary New Zealand Art. The Art travels the country thanks to the sponsorship of a generous couple providing children with the experience to see art up close at no cost.
